How recycled content can drive down your embodied carbon profile

The numbers mattered. Material selection often makes up more than 50% of a product’s total emissions. Swapping virgin materials for recycled inputs can make a massive dent in a product’s carbon footprint — but only if it’s measurable, verifiable, and comparable.

And betterJOINERY delivers.

Compared to standard building boards like MDF and particleboard, betterJOINERY creates far less carbon pollution when it’s made. In fact, it cuts emissions by around 80% compared to typical MDF.

To put it simply:

• A square metre of MDF creates 10 kg of carbon emissions
• Particleboard creates 4.8 kg
• betterJOINERY? Just 1.5 kg

That’s a huge drop — just by using waste materials instead of virgin ones. And now, it’s all independently verified.
